This memorial is in the hamlet of Landshipping Quay in Pembrokeshire. It commemorates a day in 1844 when the waters of the Cleddau estuary broke through into the Garden Mine and drowned 40 miners, some being children as young as 11. In some families the whole male population was lost. A very sad day indeed.
